The german melodic death metal band Kambrium has launched this first album Shadowpath in 2011 with Massacre Records. He have talked with the band to know the band and theis album.

To begin, explain us the origin of Kambrium and if your name has special meaning or is just a word that you have invented.

Kambrium It refers to the geological era which was called Kambrium. There's no deeper sense in it, it just sounded nice. ;).

Talking about styles, we can classify you into the melodic death, but you have a very characteristic sound, very melodic moments even to touch melancholyc moments and we must not forget that it is progressive and epic too. Is not it?

Exactly! Music must not be just aggressiv or sorrowful. We like to combine many several feelings to create something new. This is Kambrium. Like the geological era, Kambrium stands for the variety of life.

Last 2011 you edited Shadowpath independently with a cover very different from what has finally been released with Massacre Records. What did you want to show with the cover and what you think about the cover change? How was the stage since you released the album and was re-released again?

The old cover was made by a friend of us, but it didn't look professional enough. It looked a way too happy. The new one is much darker, like many songs on Shadowpath. The reactions are very positive! That gives us the strength to compose a next album which will kick your ass!

About the title, Shadowpath, did you put for some meaning on it or simply searched out a good name for your first album?

Shadowpath describes all the paradox things that can happen in the life of everyone. It is a nice neologism. You somehow expect a great journey. So, Kambrium is your guide on this journey.

Kambrium - Shadowpath About the album recording, did you have previous experience in the study? How was the recording?

We worked our fingers to the bone to create the Shadowpath. Torsten our producer did a great job, although it was a hard time for him. (laughs). A lot of songs on the album are very long, so we had to work very hard. Luckily there were many shops where we got pizza and stuff like that (laughs). We studied our songs very intensive, because we wanted to do the recordings as fast as possible. It helped us a lot!

Shadowpath takes more than a year since the first edition, and some months since Massacre released it again, the press has written good reviews, what has been the answer of the public?

The answer of the public is very good too. We are very happy about every review. It shows that we are able to create feelings in the minds of our listeners. That is very important.

Summer and festivals are coming, will you be play in any this summer?

Actually we are planning our next live gigs. We hope that we can play on some festivals this summer. One Festival will be the "Walpurgis Rock Festival". We are really looking forward to it!

We have a few years in which the melodic death metal is booming, in these conditions is difficult to get a place among so many bands, what you think about the death metal scene?

Well, the death metal scene is a very loyal scene. Bands would not be anything without the fans. They guarantee for the success and the fall of a band. Fans love Bands because of their unique sound. But when they change that unique sound too much, the fans will let them fall into the nothingness.

You have to make an advertising campaign for a band called Kambrium that is promoting his album Shadowpath, what spot advertising would you do?

Lemmy would say: "Buy it!" Thats all. (laughs)

What is the process to compose songs in Kambrium? What are your musical influences?

Jan is composing the songs, and afterwards he shows them to the band. Together we talk about the songs and sometimes change some things. There are many musical styles which have influenced us. Gothic-, Power-, Folk-, or Death Metal. We all listen to these different styles of music. So, that's one big reason, why Kambrium doesn't sound like any other band.

At last, from Satan Aerise want to thank you for your time and wish you good luck withg Shadowpath. If you want to add something...

See you all on tour! Hope we will drink a beer (or more) together! Cheers!
