Satan Arise

The Valencians Prometheus have just released their third album 1001, a whole shows the level that has the national metal. We talked to them about his new job and how is the metal today.

For starter tell us a little about the history of Prometheus so that our readers will know better.

Then we formed in Valencia in 2002 under the name of Hidden Wisdom and the name stayed until 2004 we changed to that of Prometheus, in 2006 we recorded our first CD "Land of All", in 2008 we were among the groups finalists in this year's edition of Granite Rock having the honor of playing with Marley and The Wall on July 26, in 2009 we recorded our second CD "Mud and Tears" and in 2012 we released our latest work to date, "1001". Of course, during these years we have toured Spain playing live and known to us as possible.

Prometheus in Greek mythology was the one who stole fire from the gods to give it to men of all a declaration of principles. How did choose this name for the band?

People did not stay with the name of Hidden Wisdom and the year 2004 when we wrote the Prometheus theme, people started calling and at concerts and more. So we decided to move to that name that was more direct and more accessible to people. A part is all the symbolism that carries the name. Prometheus, the Titan who defied Zeus and stole fire from the gods to give to mortals ...

If we go into the peculiar world of labels, Where do we find Prometheus? Your metal is influenced by classic Power Metal, Do you share my opinion?

That's right ... We are a heavy metal band with touches of classic power metal-influenced bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Red Baron, Holy Land, etc., But everyone can judge when to listen.

Now you have edited 1001, but have you got in the back two more works, Land Of Each and Barro and Tears, and now ten years since you were just starting to build in 2002 the bases with Hidden Wisdom. Now looking back in perspective, how you see these years of hard work?

For they have been years of great enthusiasm, sacrifice, perseverance and believing in what you do. First of all we have moved much touching everything and publicizing the group wherever we could.

Let's focus a bit in 1001, disco we reviewed recently in Satan Arise and I was very pleasantly surprised. A disc with a lot of strength, intensity and catchy, come together several of the premises more like a national audience.

It's an album that as you say has the features that have been exposed in the question, is made with all my heart and hope in the world for people to enjoy to listen and is especially good feeling. Also with this new album we give a qualitative and consolidated introduce ourselves as a band and looking to the future force.

1001, the cover focuses on the bars of a cell, anger, helplessness, anger are adjectives that come to mind, what you pretend to express in 1001?

Then make a metaphor of the current situation of man living prisoner and locked in a cell, but as has happened in other situations in the past, get out of it, recover the freedom and will see the light.

You repeat again with Fernando Asensi, Fire Works Studios, who has worked with groups from the likes of Opera Dragonfly Magna or, if something works well, better go, right?

Well, yes. Fernando know for many years, we can say that has become the sixth Prometheus ... Well, not quite ... It's a great friend and understands us very well in reflecting our ideas in the study. There is great rapport between us both personally and musically. From the beginning, he has been charged with the task of producing our albums. If we repeated in "1001" is because we are very happy with their work. He brings out the sound to perfection we seek.

Another detail that surprised me most of the album is the intro, I was surprised to be a very epic intro, worthy of an adventure movie or a record of epic metal bands.

Thanks ... This intro ("Fire and Betrayal") and the first track, "A thousand years and one day," we close the story of Prometheus we started with the previous album. With Mud and Tears treat the myth of Prometheus and "1001" close the circle. The intro is so "grand" because he wants to reflect upon the betrayal of promise to Zeus and in turn link to the song "A Thousand Years and a Day" featuring the conversation between Zeus (Vicente Feijoo Claw) and Prometheus before convicted. It's a very ambitious start. We have spared the least to try to make this "1001" a great record. In the last song of the album, "The Curse of the Burning", a 10-minute turn to deploy all our epic vein in him we had the collaboration of several voices lyrics, a violinist, chorus ... It is an end in style!

During these years you have shared the stage with bands such as Sphinx, Wall, Soft, Dúnedain and Dragonfly and others to present this 1001 do you have prepared a surprise?

Since we started our first major tour in 2010 that "Clay of Music Tour" until now the truth is that we have shared the stage with great bands. As you said you have acted with Dúnedain, Size Zero, Sphinx, Claw, Beethoven R., Wall, Soft ... For us it is a great honor to have shared experiences with all of them but also have done with bands, like Prometheus, are not known ... always learn something from them all.

Of course, this tour promises to be much more interesting. We have confirmed dates until June, but our time is always stronger after summer. We are confirmed in a couple of festivals, one in June in Valencia and one in July in Castellón ... soon announce more dates and surprises.

The metal is not going through a great moment in terms of sales for purposes such as crisis and the change that the industry is suffering as to how to distribute music. This clashes with the many bands that are still forming and there is such a high level on the national scene, how do you see this situation as you are living it from within?

On many levels, everything has changed so much in a few years. How to record, edit, to promote ... The physical CD will eventually disappear. "1001" has been published in a physical but also digitally. This entails some pros and some cons. Pros rapidly that your music reaches more people. Cons ... The piracy. The digital album runs like wildfire in a few days through the myriad of download sites that exist. This is not to criticize Internet. We know that this is a vital platform for bands like us. Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Myspace ... These are a great help when promoting yourself. There are lots of digital portals currently (as Satan Arise) that unlike the 4 magazines of yesteryear, if they give room to emerging groups like us, not just the big ones. Sales have fallen by the crisis, yes, but also by the ease of people to access music downloading instantly. As you well say there is currently a high level in the Spanish metal. People have a variety of alternatives and it is difficult to buy the disc at all bands. Yet we can not complain Prometheus ... Who is really interested in just comprándotelo disk. Concerts are the best shop to sell your music. Hence there is no cheating or cardboard.

You have to think that you are making an advertisement, how would sell 1001?

Heavy is pure Prometheus, Prometheus is pure Metal. With his new album, "1001", conquer the soul and heart of lovers of good Heavy Metal based on your passion, energy and authenticity. Do not expect anything else, not you're going to give!
